The Sunset Speaks to Me

I took these pictures of a truly beautiful sunset the night before last and it reminded me of this poem by Chief Dan George...

The beauty of the trees,
the softness of the air,
the fragrance of the grass,
speaks to me.

The summit of the mountain,
the thunderof the sky,
the rhythm of the sea,
speaks to me.

The faintness of the stars,
the freshness of the morning,
the dewdrop on the flower,
speaks to me.

The strength of fire,
the taste of salmon,
the trail of the sun,
and the life that never goes away,
they speak to me,

And my heart soars

Lakota Lullaby

And So to Bed.......
I used to read Brer Rabbit Stories to my boys at bedtime and now I read them to their children instead, on their next visit I'll try this song.
Robert Tree Cody sings this beautiful Lakota Lullaby which says:
'Good hearted little boy go back to sleep - the night is young'

Cherokee Morning Song

Start your day the Cherokee way, grab your drum and sing along, what a great way to start the day.........
The words mean: 'I am of the Great Spirit' and that means being a part of all that is, so simple and yet so profound.

Rocks V Washing machine

When my washing machine finally lost the plot and left me with a load of clean but soaking bath towels. I knew the time had come to make the decision - Go completely Green and use a rock in a clear river of fresh water OR purchase a new washer.
The rocks were a tempting idea, but there are no clean streams round here, so as any self respecting Shamanic Diva would, I opted for the machine - no contest really...............

Fish Therapy

Last weekend at a festival in London, I just had to give this 'new' therapy a go. It was a very pleasant, light tickling sensation and I would most definitely have it again as my feet were left feeling very smooth and silky.

Garra Rufa is the name of the primary fish used in the spa treatment known as a fish pedicure, which involves the Garra Rufa fish nibbling at the dead skin to leave feet feeling soft and smooth.
Also known as Doctor Fish or Kangal Fish - named after the town in Turkey where the fish are found in abundance.
Garra Rufa fish are naturally found in the hot spring pools in Turkey, are a natural phenomenon which have for hundreds of years been used for the treatment of a number of ailments.

Dating as far back as the early nineteenth century, spa fish have been used to treat all manner of skin conditions including psoriasis and eczema. Other ailments such as muscle and joint conditions have also been treated using Garra Rufa Fish.

The fish only nibble the dead skin whilst leaving the good skin areas to grow untouched, which has been beneficial to a number of conditions. In addition to the medical benefits they are a novel and fun way to remove dead skin from feet in particular.

These ones must have been particularly hungry

My favourite book, 'The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud' has finally been made into a film......
I only hope that it is as good and does the book justice.

Summer Picnics

Soft summer breezes relaxing by a stream,
a picnic filled with delicous treats,
of strawberries and cream,

Laid back and enjoying the children all at play,
Sunshine hidden by the rain clouds,
The wet ending of a day,
